"That is when the world will end." FEAR |---------------------------------------------------------| LOVE Plot - Donnie Darko is a brilliant but troubled teenager - 2 October 1988, Darko sleepwalks out of his house at night, and sees a giant, demonic-looking rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world will end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds - Donnie Darko escapes being killed when a jet engine falls from the sky and crashes through his bedroom. After escaping his fated death, Donnie starts to experience some severe dislocations of time and space. He is able to perform superhuman feats - Aside from his mental problems and violent tendencies, Donnie is different from other kids. He can see beyond the superficial, - He is able to see into different parts of the time-space continuum (that is a teorie by Einstein) - He returned home the next morning and found the police and the FAA investigating the accident, because no plane has lost an engine. - The evil bunny continues to suggest actions for Donny, and he continues to obey because the evil bunny tells him that if he doesn't, the world will end in 28 days - Donnie's dad runs over Roberta Sparrow, the centenarian that Donnie and friends nickname "Grandma Death," who's perpetually crossing and re-crossing the street to check her mailbox for a letter that never seems to come. She whispers something into Donnie's ear, which he later reveals to his psychiatrist, Dr. Lilian Thurman: "Every living creature on earth dies alone." - Gretchen, a pretty new girl, asks Donnie to walk her home and then she become his girlfriend The love story is disturbed by the interactions with Frank. - Frank tells him to get an axe and break open the school's water supply main pipe - Donnie leaves the axe embedded in the head of the school's mascot statue, that is made of solid bronze, along with a message on the ground: "They Made Me Do It." - He has an another conversation with Frank, the rabbit, who tells him that he can do what he wants and when Darko asks him „Where are you from?“ he answers „Do you believe in time travel?“ - Meanwhile, Donnie's authority problems continue: he dislikes his teacher Kittie Farmer and her blind adoration of self-help guru Jim Cunningham, who separates the world into love and fear. - His hallucinations are more vivid, and his actions more dangerous. - Monnitoff (science professor) talks about Einstein-Rosen bridges and transversing same in "anything made of metal," then hands him a book called The Philosophy of Time Travel written by Roberta Sparrow. - Soon Donnie is seeing strange liquid spheres issuing out of people's chests, displaying their future path of motion, including his own. - Donnie discuting with Dr Thurman: Continua »
