ERNEST HEMINGWAY (Oak Park 1899 / Idaho 1961)
1) He started his career as a writer in a newspaper office in Kansas City at the age of 17;
2) During the I° World War he joined a volunteer ambulance driver in the Italian army;
3) When he returned to the USA he become a reporter for Canadian and American newspapers;
4) He loved hunting, fishing and bullfighting → “The Sun Also Rises” spoke about his travel in Spain, where he discovered his passion for bullfighting;
5) In 1922 he married Hadley Richardson and moved to Paris where became member of the group of Expatriate Americans and worked as a foreign correspondent → “The Sun Also Rises”, 1924;
6) After the divorce, he married Pauline Pfeiffer, but they divorced too following Hemingway return from covering the Spanish civil war → “From Whom The Bell Tolls”;
7) In 1941 he married Martha Gellhorn but he left her for marry a welsh after II° World War;
8) In 1952 he publicated “The Old Man And The Sea”;
9) After he had a Safari in Africa a plane crashed and left him ill-health;
10) In 1959 he moved in Idaho where he suicide himself in 1961;
11) He was soon of a doctor and an opera singer;
12) He won the Nobel prize for literature and the Polizer prize;
13) His style includes essential words: pore objective writing.
