BIOGRAPHY and Works:
Lisa J. Smith is quite reserved about her life, so her biography isn’t sure. However she was probably born on September 4, 1965, in Orange Country, California. She took a degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of Santa Barbara in 1987. She started teaching in an elementary school for several years, but she stopped for become a writer.

Her early years of writer were prolific. In 1987, she published her first book, The Night of the Solstice, followed by "Heart of Valor" in 1990, and then she produced a four book series, “The Vampire Diaries” in 1992. The same years she published another trilogy “The secret circle”. The following years she wrote other two trilogies “The forbidden game” (1994) and “Dark visions” (1995). The first part of her popular Night World series was published in 1996, followed by eight more over the next two years.

“The vampire diaries” is an urban fantasy series that deals with Elena Gilbert torn between two vampire brothers. At the beginning the series was thought as a trilogy, but the author decided to write a fourth book. The series was divided in three cycles.
