The story is set in Verona.
Meanwhile, Juliet’s father, unaware of the secret marriage, orders her to marry Paris. To escape, she takes a drug given to her by Friar Laurence to put her in a deathlike trance; the friar will warn Romeo, who will rescue her. Romeo is mistakenly told that Juliet is dead. Rushing back to Verona, he meets Paris outside Juliet’s tomb; they fight and Paris is killed. Then Romeo breaks into the tomb and poisons himself. Waking from her trance, the horrified Juliet kills herself with Romeo’s dagger . When the Capulets and the Montagues learn of the tragedy, they become reconciled.
Juliet is the only child of the head of the House of Capulet. Her father plans to marry her to Count Paris. Although the Montagues and Capulets are enemies, Romeo, son of Lord Montague, attends a feast given by Lord Capulet, disguised in a mask . At the feast, Romeo and Juliet fall in love and they are secretly married by Friar Laurence the following day. That same day Romeo is involved in a street quarrel in which his friend Mercutio is killed by Tybalt, a Capulet.
