The banking System is a vital structure in a nation's economy.

It consists of a number of different elements. There are three types of bank1.
• THE CENTRAL BANK
Most major countries have a single centrai bank which controis thè monetar/ System.
• COMMERCIAI BANK
They offer different kind of current account and lend money in thè form of overdraf t and loans.

People choose to deposit their money in banks because it is safer than keeping it at home. But banks also offer a range of services to attract customers:
• BANKACCOUNTS
There are two main types of account:
1.

A current account for found which need to be immediately available.
2. A deposit account for found which are not required for immediate use.
• STAN&IN6 ORDERS

daily interest.
• LOANS
A loan is money we con ask thè bank to lend us. We must repay thè loan and thè interest on it over a f ixed period of time. Before according us a loan, thè bank will investigate on ourf inancial conditions and will also require some form of security.
• CHEQUES
A cheque is a written instruction to thè bank (thè drawee) to pay money to thè
account holder (thè drawer) or to another person (thè payee).
The cheque must contai rv.
1. thè date from which it is payable;
2. thè name of thè payee;
3. thè amount to be paid in words and f igures;
4. thè signature of thè drawer.
A cheque can passed on to someone else by being endorsed: thè payee must sign it on thè bank.
