Biografia di Martin Luther King - Martin Luther King was born in 1929, in Atlanta.His name was changed to Martin Luther in honor of German reformer Martin Luther. He was an American pastor, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He fought for civil rights. His father was also a civil rights leader. He refused a career in medicine and law and he became a Baptist minister.

Then he studied at a theological seminary, where he learned about the non-violent methods used by Gandhi against the British in India. King was convinced that such methods would help the civil rights movement. He first began to be well known in 1955 when he led a protest against the way black people were segregated on buses.
